Otar, hello. Nice to meet you.
Can you describe in three different words your debut as Enzo in Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania.
I would use these 3 words to describe my debut as Enzo at Teatro Massimo di Bellini: Joy, Interest, Hardwork!!!
Please, can you give some advice for our readers: choose a more suitable Opera for first time attendance, the best Opera for a romantic date and best choice for evening with parents.
The first Opera I personally attended in my life was “L’elisir D’amore”, which I think is the best to fall in love with Opera.
For some romantic date, I would recommend “Tosca” for some different reasons. For bravery, for immense, selfless love, sacrifice and the music of course.
So to enjoy the opera with parents I would recommend some native operas, which is close to your heart, you understand the language and it gives you absolutely different feelings.
What would you wish for the opera for the next 10 years after your 10 years experience of performances around the world?
I’d wish to the opera world to always be true, real and never forget that the opera is about singing at first and in equal measure acting and so on… all with huge respect, but singing is the most important. As Franco Corelli was saying, we go to Opera to hear the voice, singing.
Will there be operas written in the 21st century that will be performed in the 22nd century? What do you think?
I personally think that every period of time has it’s genius, so I think there will be written some operas which will be performed in the future.
Can you tell us about your musical preferences beyond classical music?
I love very much to listen to different genres of music, such as Jazz, Rock, Folk, Pop. Every kind of music, which I feel is based on some true emotions. Music is everywhere, we just need to feel it.
Otar, thank you so much for the interview, for your time. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas! 🎄
